Vice President Song Jingwu Visits French Embassy in China to Express Condolences to Victims of Terrorist Attacks in Paris

On November 17, a group headed by Song Jingwu , Vice President of CPAFFC, visited the French Embassy in China and expressed CPAFFC’s deep condolences?to?the?victims?and?sincere?solicitude?to?their families. Vice President Song Jingwu said, the CPAFFC strongly condemns the terrorism and wishes for the forever world peace.
Mr. Jacques Pellet, Minister-counselor of the French Embassy in China, thanked China for providing the support to the French government and the people at their most difficult time. He expressed that France is willing to, together with the CPAFFC, strengthen the cooperation in fields of humanism and safeguard the peace and security of the world.
CPAFFC Successfully Held “Ode to Peace” Special Event
As part of the commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, International City-Cooperation Center of CPAFFC held “Ode to Peace” special event, and unveiled the Ode to Peace sculpture. Over 250 international friends and multi-national corporation?representatives attended the event.
60 years ago, CPAFFC invited Qi Baishi, an influential Chinese Painter, together with another 14 artists, to create the Chinese painting “Ode to Peace” for Helsinki World Congress, declaring China’s good prospect of upholding peace, and against war and aggression, to the world through art; 60 years later, CPAFFC creates the song “Ode to Peace” and its sculpture, aiming to use again the common language of mankind--art--to express Chinese people’s never-ending pursuit for peace.
With lyrics written by President Li Xiaolin, music composed by renowned composer Zhao Jiping and Zhao Lin, chorus by Golden Sail Choir of Beijing No.2 Experimental Primary School and Chinese Air Force Blue-Sky Children’s Art Troupe, “Ode to Peace” hopes to deliver to the world China’s wish for upholding peace and determination of adhering to the path of peace development .
In the event, President Li Xiaolin expressed her hope of taking this event as an opportunity to encourage more people, regardless of nationality, religion and color, longing for peace.
When the video of American veterans coming all the way to attend? “9·3” event in China was shown on the big screen; when children used their sweet voices to long and pray for peace; when former Deputy Chairman Xu Kuangdi and President Li Xiaolin unveiled “Ode to Peace” sculpture…all audience were moved. The event recorded solemn moment of sensing peace and made touching movements of “we are the world”, expressing to the world the aspiration of all human beings: May people live in love and respect; may the world forever stay in peace.

The RCFA Delegation Visits China

At the invitation of CPAFFC, the First Vice President of China-Russia Friendship Association Ms.Kulikova and her delegation visited China from November 5th to 12th. During the visit, The delegation attended the Symposium Commemorating 100th Anniversary of Professor Strazheva's Birth; Mr. Yuan Huimin, Director General of Guizhou Provincial Foreign Affairs Office , and Mr. Wang Guangcheng, Deputy Director of Chongqing Association for People's Friendship with Foreign Countries, met with the delegation. The delegation also communicated with the students of Sichuan International Studies University and The ballet school of Guizhou.?

Vice Premier Liu Yandong Meets Nagasaki Prefecture Delegation
On November 11th, Mme. Liu Yandong, Vice-Premier of the State Council, met with Nagasaki-ken Prefecture delegation led by Governor Nakamura Norimichi in Beijing. Mme. Li Xiaolin, President of the CPAFFC, Mr. Song Jingwu, Vice President of the CPAFFC, Mr. Tanaka Yoshikuni, Speaker of the Nagasaki Prefectural Council, Mr. Gao Tianyong, Former Governor of the Nagasaki Prefecture and Mr. Kitera Masato, Ambassador of the Embassy of Japan in China attended the meeting.
Vice Premier Liu Yandong expressed that developing long-term and stable relations of the two countries complies with the fundamental interest of the two peoples. On the basis of the China-Japan Four Political Documents, China is willing to make efforts together with Japan to carry out the four consensuses reached by the both sides last year, to properly handle with the disputes and to promote the bilateral ties back to the right track again. She hoped that the both sides strengthened the cultural exchanges and local cooperation, further tamping the public support of the bilateral ties.
Mr. Nakamura Norimichi said Nagasaki Prefecture would like to strengthen the friendly exchanges and cooperation with China and to make contributions to enhancing the friendship of the two countries.
Deputy Director-General Zhang Ruoning Meets Delegation from Friendship-Association Netherlands-China
On November 11th, Ms Zhang Ruoning, Deputy Director-General of European and Asian Department of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), met with Mr Jaap Post, adviser, former President of Friendship-Association Netherlands-China(VNC),and member executive committee of department VNC Rotterdam, and Mr Oey Toen Ping, Vice President department VNC Rotterdam.
The two sides exchanged ideas on the recent activities carried out by the two organizations and the preparations for the fifth Sino-European Agricultural Seminar. Mr Li Wei, Secretary General of the Benxi People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries attended the meeting.
Vice President Xie Yuan Meets U.S. Political and Business Friendship Delegation
On November 10th, Vice President Xie Yuan met with U.S. Political and Business Friendship Delegation .
Vice President Xie Yuan briefed the delegation on the work and function of CPAFFC as well as some major events held by our association, such as the commemoration activities of the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, the China-U.S. Governors Forum, the 4th Forum on U.S.-China Relations, and the China-U.S. Sister Cities Conference. CPAFFC coordinates and oversees the work of establishing and developing sister-city relations between China and other countries. Up to now, 44 pairs of sister province/state and 201 pairs of sister cities have been established between China and the U.S. Vice President Xie said that the CPAFFC hope to strengthen corporation with people from all sectors in the U.S. to jointly push forward local and people-to-people exchanges between our two countries.
Mr. Deng Long, head of the delegation, Chairman of U.S. Chinese Chamber of Commerce (UCCC) and Co-Chairman of New York State Republican Financial Committee, said that since its founding 11 years ago, UCCC has organized 10 delegations to visit China. The exchanges and visits between our two peoples, which are crucial to the bilateral relations, will enhance our friendship and understanding. UCCC would like to work with CPAFFC to push forward China-U.S. relations.
The delegation members also include Mayor George Vallejo of North Miami Beach of the State of Florida, Mr. Mark C. Fang, Human Rights Commissioner of Westchester of the State of New York, Mr. Allen C. Pedersen, Former Operations Manager for Delta Airlines and mayoral candidate for the City of Marathon of Florida.
Reception for the 65th Anniversary of the Establishment of China-Finland Diplomatic Relations Held in Beijing
On November 10th, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Embassy of Finland in Beijing jointly held a reception for the 65th anniversary of China-Finland diplomatic relations at the Great Hall of the People. Mr Luo Fuhe, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC, Ms Maria Lohela, Speaker of the Parliament of Finland, Mr. Wang Chao, Vice Foreign Minister, Mr. Song Jingwu, Vice President of the CPAFFC, Ms Marja Rislakki, Finnish Ambassador to China, together with over 200 guests from the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Defense, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Civil Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Culture, General Administration of Customs, the delegation from the Parliament of Finland, diplomats from the Embassy of Finland, and representatives from all sectors attended the reception. Vice President of the CPAFFC Song Jingwu and Speaker of Parliament Lohela delivered speeches.

Song said in his speech that Finland was one of the first western countries to establish diplomatic ties with New China, and the very first western country to sign bilateral trade agreement with China. At present, China and Finland have reaped rich fruits in practical cooperation, and carried out vibrant?people-to-people and cultural exchanges. The CPAFFC is willing to take the 65th anniversary of China-Finland diplomatic ties as an opportunity to work with Finland, expand and deepen cooperation in all fields, and contribute to the building of a new type of future-oriented cooperative partnership between the two countries.
Lohela said that Finland and China share many common interests, and there is potential for even greater bilateral relationship. People-to-people exchanges and interaction form the foundation for all cooperation. Finland is willing to host more people-to-people and cultural exchanges with China to push forward China-Finland bilateral relations.

Vice President Song Jingwu Meets President of Edinburgh Napier University of the UK Prof. Andrea Nolan
On 9th November, Vice President Song Jingwu met with Prof. Andrea Nolan, President of Edinburgh Napier University. He welcomed the visit of President Nolan to the CPAFFC, briefly introduced the main functions and recent major works of the association and reviewed the China-UK Youth Exchange Project Ten Persons’ Stories which was successfully co-organized by the CPAFFC and the Edinburgh Napier University in 2014. He indicated that the recent successful visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to the UK will encourage the cooperation between China and the UK in various fields. The CPAFFC will continue to promote the cooperation between China and the UK in the fields of local government, culture and people to people exchanges. Looking ahead of the 13th Five Year Plan, Chinese Central Government will devote major efforts to develop the higher education and deepen the agriculture reform, China may learn from the successful experiences of Scotland in the fields of education, agriculture and husbandry.
President Nolan spoke highly of the long-term relationship between the Edinburgh Napier University and the CPAFFC. She said that the Napier University attaches great importance to the cooperation with Chinese universities, and hopes to strengthen the exchanges and cooperation in the fields of youth and culture between the Napier university and the CPAFFC.
Vice President Xie Yuan Meets with NCSL Delegation from the U.S.
Vice President Xie Yuan met with the delegation of National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) from the U.S. on November 9th , 2015. The delegation is led by NCSL President and Utah Senate President Pro Tempore Curtis Bramble, and composed of legislative leaders and members from six states including Utah, South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada and Rhode Island.
Vice President Xie Yuan said that the delegation’s visit is at the important juncture of China-U.S. relations. On the one hand, state relations provide important foundation for sub-national exchanges. With China-U.S. relations getting closer, the two countries have already established over 240 pairs of sister state/province and sister city relationship. On the other hand, sub-national relationship is the cornerstone of state relations, and provides great opportunities for people-to-people exchanges. The CPAFFC and the State Legislative Leaders Foundation (SLLF) of the United States have agreed to establish the China-U.S. Sub-National Legislatures Exchange Mechanism, and will sign the agreement in Florida next month. The two sides are planning to co-host the First China-U.S. Sub-National Legislatures Cooperation Forum in 2016. Over the years, CPAFFC and NCSL kept good cooperative relationship. It is hoped that the two sides will work together to further promote China-U.S. sub-national exchanges and legislatures exchanges.?
Curtis Bramble said that, NCSL is composed of 7383 elective legislators and speaks collectively for U.S. states and territories. U.S.-China sub-national relationship is very important, and sub-national legislatures cooperation is one of its key components. At present, Utah and Liaoning have already established legislatures exchange and cooperation relationship. It is hoped that the two sides work together to expand this relationship among more states and provinces in the future.?
Symposium Commemorating 100th Anniversary of Professor Strazheva's Birth Held in CPAFFC
On the 6th, November 2015, the symposium commemorating the 100th anniversary of Professor Strazheva's birth? hosted by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) was successfully held. China- Russia Friendship Association .Mr. Song Jingwu, Vice-President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries(CPAFFC), Mr. Zhu Yuli, former general manager of the Aviation Industry Corporation and around 50 guests were present at the symposium.
